Bog Monster
Awarded of ‘Best World Whisky’ at the NZ Spirits Awards 2022, we celebrated the the first distillation at the new Waiheke Whisky Distillery by releasing a very limited number of bottles of our highly sought after ‘Special Circumstances’ release - The Bog Monster.
Incredibly rare with only 315 bottles produced, the Bog Monster is a single cask distilled in 2015 from heavily peated New Zealand malt, with peat sourced from the Tussock Creek peat bogs of Southland. With only first fill and refill bourbon barrels used, the quality of our unique spirit character with the heavy peat influence is front and centre on the palate.
This was an experimental whisky with Virgin American Oak followed by Bourbon cask finish.
There are still some bottles occasionally for sale only at the distillery.
A limited edition release of 25 bottles is coming with this beautiful art work.
