New distillery build update: 15/6/22
Winter is here and the distillery build is full steam ahead. The base foundations, piles and block walls are in place.
Initial grading of the site, the bottling hall in the distance.
As we are both a sustainable site and distillery, all our water treatment plant and sewerage had to be installed first. We have an extensive on site waste water treatment plant and all effluent is treated prior to retuning to the water course as clean water.
Once the ground is levelled, the foundations are boxed and poured. Its a large building, 450SQm over 2 levels, 7m high.
L to R : Brewhouse/Stillroom, Barreling room, Tasting room and shop
The building is split into 3 zones, the brewhouse and stillroom to the left, a barrel filling room that also serves as a function space and a tasting bar and shop. the rear area is for vehicle access to take barrels from temporary storage in the barreling room to the storage warehouses.
Boxing the foundations and pillars to take the steel structure.
The concrete slab is massive to take the weight off the stills, the wash backs and mash tun. Under this huge slab, all the electrical and drainage conduit has to be lain before the base supplies of power, water and drainage is installed
Once the conduits are buried, we can build up the base course to take the channel drains. These are made of a glass reinforced concrete substrate that takes a stainless steel liner.
Once these are completed its time for the reinforcing steel and insulation. Look for further updates next week prior to pouring the slab.
