BOG MONSTER BALLOT
After hundreds of enquiries and recently awarded of ‘Best World Whisky’ at the NZ Spirits Awards, we have decided to celebrate the first distillation at the New Waiheke Whisky Distillery by releasing a very limited number of bottles of our highly sought after ‘Special Circumstances’ release - The Bog Monster.
Incredibly rare with only 315 bottles produced, the Bog Monster is a single cask distilled in 2015 from heavily peated New Zealand malt, with peat sourced from the Tussock Creek peat bogs of Southland. With only first fill and refill bourbon barrels used, the quality of our unique spirit character with the heavy peat influence is front and centre on the palate.
Only 24 bottles of this distinctive whisky will be sold online, with the remainder available exclusively from the distillery door. Online sales will be allocated via a ballot which you can sign up for here.
To celebrate the release, we sat down with Pat Newton, Head Distiller, and Roanne Izzard, owner of Waiheke Distillery, to delve into the story behind Bog Monster.
